Hazardous Objects: High Water Mark (2010 – 2013)
Island of Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil 2010
Island of Sylt, Germany 2013
In 2009 I developed a body of work, titled Hazardous Objects, whereby I crafted exact replicas of industrial and consumer cast-offs (recyclable trash such as glass and plastic bottles, tins and polystyrene punnets) from beaten lead sheet. Later, while on residency in Brazil in 2010 and in Germany in 2013, I extended the concept of Hazardous Objects to include organic objects and other natural detritus found on-site. The resultant site-specific photographs of the objects on the beaches and dunes of the two islands I was resident on comprise the High Water Mark project. It was my intention to comment on and expresses my concern for the severe impact man continues to have on the environment.
